Get by on gratitude: Thankful Thursday #5

April 29, 2010

1. I just got back from a wonderful, funny, interesting live taping of Q with Jian Ghomeshi in the Glenn Gould Studio at the CBC. Among his guests tonight were the many members of Broken Social Scene, who performed a few songs off of their new album Forgiveness Rock Record and took the time to talk to Jian about the album and about the band in general. Jian asked about the meaning behind the title of the album, and the band talked about how easy it is to be sad or depressed or angry in today’s society; the real challenge is to be happy, and to find things to celebrate. (I’m sure you can imagine, given what this blog is all about, how happy I was to hear that!) This could be on any scale – forgiving a friend, or forgiving third world debt.
2.  Today was Pay It Forward day! Here’s to everyone who took the time to pay a kindness forward, even if it was something as simple as pausing for a moment to hold a door open for a stranger
